Golden Gate Bridge

World-renowned bridge at the entry to San Francisco Bay, known as the Golden Gate that Connects San Francisco to Marin County.

Due to the uniqueness of the Golden Gate Bridge and it's environment, Security By Design, Inc. was requested to conduct a security vulnerability assessment of the Bridge in 1994. This work included an evaluation of the various areas of the Bridge's structure, the approaches, and the contiguous areas. An assessment of the existing security provisions was completed and recommendations made for an overall security system upgrade along with the budgetary impact of such a program. Finally, an audit of the security guard force training and utilization was accomplished. All of the findings and recommendations were incorporated in a formal report and submitted to the Bridge Management.

Subsequent to the submission of the formal report, Security By Design, Inc. proceeded to develop a security system schematic design and complete biddable contract documents package which included system specifications, technical drawings, and details. An electrical consultant was added as a sub-consultant to provide the high voltage electrical service and distribution portion of the overall design.
