| Description Of Site
Millions of square feet of office, research and development, computer center, warehousing, and ancillary facilities are involved. These areas
include the Microsoft main campus and satellite campuses in Seattle, WA and facilities throughout the United States.
SBD was the consultant that worked on the control room redesign team where the Life Safety Control Center was changed to accommodate a flexible
set of equipment and an ergonomic environment. Several years later, SBD produced a study to help define future options for this area to allow for
an ever increasing operational scope.
Security By Design Involvement
Provided consulting services to Microsoft's Corporate Security and Facilities Departments for several years. The development of design criteria
for use in a design standards program was an important project. A contract document library, initially used for a new 750,000 square foot campus,
has enabled Microsoft to make efficient use of global design concepts on a cost effective basis. SBD was a key part of the Microsoft team to select
and define the replacement of a nation-wide access control system in excess of 800 card readers.

Of Special Interest
The replacement of the access control system nation-wide brings integration to a new level with encrypted and authenticated access and wide area
network (WAN) services.
SBD helped Microsoft structure their internal databases to complement a single person database, allowing smooth integration between HR and security.
This integration also provided for additional services to be made available, including the ability to use the access card to purchase meal services.
